The fan experience at games for Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns is being enhanced with a new game day text messaging service.
In effort to improve communications between fans and game day event and security personnel, the UL Lafayette Athletic Department and UL Lafayette Police will be using the Guest Assist texting system at the first home football game Saturday at Cajun Field.
“ We’ve been working very hard to put in place best practices in terms of stadium security which enhance security and our fans’ total experience,” said Police Chief Joey Sturm. He noted that security enhancements are layered and will not be readily visible to spectators.
Anyone can use the text messaging system by simply texting the word “Cajuns” with their location to 78247. A dispatcher will receive the message, respond immediately and then request followup service as necessary. For instance, patrons can text questions about parking, tailgating, emergency or guest services.
The system is being used currently within the NCAA, NFL and NBA.
“ We want fans to have minimal interruptions while they are watching the game. This text messaging system helps this,” said Sturm.
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns take on Arkansas State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
