UL Lafayette graduates and seniors who order an official university ring by Oct. 9 will be invited to participate in an inaugural presentation ceremony in November.

The rings will be displayed at Cajun Field when Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns® play Western Kentucky on Nov. 17. After the game, a procession will take the rings to Cypress Lake. A concert and party will be held there for participants.

University President Dr. Savoie will present each person his or her ring on Sunday, Nov. 18.

The university’s first official ring was unveiled on Sept. 1 during the Ragin’ Cajuns® home football game. Alumni and students who have completed at least 90 credit hours are eligible to order it.

The ring features many symbols that showcase UL Lafayette’s culture, community and research.

A committee of university students, alumni and staff met during the summer to finalize the details of its appearance. The university partnered with Balfour, which has manufactured jewelry since 1913, to complete the design.

“We wanted to represent the spirit and history of the university,” said David Edmiston, executive director of the Alumni Association. “The rings are something our alums across the world can show off as a symbol of their academic achievement and their pride for the university.”

Females have four ring options; males will have three ring choices. A variety of metals is offered.

Rings can be ordered online at www.balfour.com.

Graduating seniors also will be able to order rings at Grad Expo at the Alumni Center on Oct. 9.

Balfour will remake older rings into the official UL Lafayette ring free of charge until Sept. 1, 2013.
