Today, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, to include the Louisiana State Police, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lafayette Police Department, and in collaboration with the University of Louisiana Lafayette Police Department, responded to a bomb threat to the University of Louisiana Lafayette campus.
While no details of the ongoing investigation can be offered at this time, the FBI has announced two phone numbers. 1-800-CALL FBI has been established for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the threat. Also, tips can be called into the local Crime Stoppers at 337-232-TIPS.
“Standing shoulder to shoulder with our law enforcement partners and both federal and state prosecutors, bomb threats and hoaxes are acts of terror that are and will be investigated with the full weight of federal, state and local resources,” said Michael J. Anderson, Special Agent in Charge, FBI New Orleans.
“Any tips we can receive are vital to resolving this and other such cases.”
While no additional specific threat information exists at this time, the FBI’s JTTF and all partner agencies remain committed to updating the public should any further threat to public safety arise.
