About 1,300 graduates will receive diplomas from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette during Fall 2014 Commencement ceremonies.
Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees will be conferred on Friday, Dec. 19, at the Cajundome and Convention Center.
The University’s General Assembly will take place at 11 a.m. Doctoral candidates will be hooded and will have their doctorates conferred at this session, which will be attended by all graduating seniors and faculty members wearing full academic regalia.
Dr. Darrell Bourque, a former Louisiana poet laureate and UL Lafayette professor emeritus of English, will be the Commencement speaker at the General Assembly.

Master’s and bachelor’s degrees will be conferred at ceremonies for each academic college. A schedule and locations are below.

A total of eight students will be honored as the UL Lafayette Alumni Association’s Outstanding Graduates.
Each semester, deans from the eight academic colleges nominate a student as an Outstanding Graduate based on leadership, scholarship and service. A selection committee with the Alumni Association interviews each candidate and selects one for the overall award. That person will be recognized during the General Assembly as the overall Outstanding Graduate.

Parking for the general public will be available at Cajun Field; motorists are encouraged to enter through Gate 4 on West Congress Street.
Security measures will be in place at the Cajundome and Convention Center. University Police officers will examine the contents of purses, bags, and packages of attendees. Extremely large bags or oversized packages won’t be permitted inside the Commencement venues.
