Biography
Dawn is currently the Assistant Department Head and a senior instructor in department of Educational Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI), and the Director of the College of Education Instructional Materials Center. She began her tenure at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2009 as an adjunct instructor and has been employed full-time since 2011. Dawn graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge) in 1995. Immediately following graduation, she began her teaching career as a fifth grade teacher in Crowley, Louisiana, and for the next twelve years, she remained a classroom teacher teaching throughout Acadia Parish. Dawn graduated with her Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Northwestern State University and went on to obtain several certifications including a certification as a school librarian. These certifications allowed her to serve as school librarian in Acadia Parish for the next four years. As a senior instructor of pre-service teachers, she strives to demonstrate her enthusiasm for teaching to give her students a model of enthusiasm for the teaching profession. As Assistant Department Head and as the Director of the Instructional Materials Center, she provides students, faculty and administration with the support needed to ensure the success of the teacher certification programs in the College of Education and Human Development.
