How financial aid opened doors for UL Lafayette students

“Financial aid has taken a lot of stress off of me. Knowing that my college is paid for — and then some — has really helped. I’m going to college, well equipped with everything I need.”

Right after Joshua England was accepted for admission to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he immediately filled out the FAFSA.

Filling out the FAFSA, which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, was how he secured Pell grants, scholarships, and other financial aid that have helped him pay for college.

Having financial aid was his ticket to attending the University without the extra stress of finding a way to pay for his education.

“Financial aid has taken a lot of stress off of me,” Joshua said. “Knowing that my college is paid for — and then some — has really helped. I’m going to college, well equipped with everything I need.”

Whenever he had questions about financial aid, the UL Lafayette financial aid counselors were always ready to help.

The financial aid office here really helped me all the way through the process,” he said. “They helped me get everything that I needed and everything I qualified for.”

Financial aid has also been a major help for psychology major Wade Johnson continue his college career and earn his degree.

“Financial aid at UL Lafayette has, without a doubt, opened so many doors for me — to not only start, but also continue my education,” Wade said. “Even though UL Lafayette is one of the more affordable colleges in the state, it still wouldn’t have been feasible for myself or my family without financial aid.”
